Tire Test Engineer

Position

Are you passionate about the automotive industry and have a deep understanding of tire performance and testing? We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tire Test Engineer to join our dynamic team at GCAPS. The Tire Test Engineer is responsible for preparing and executing tire force and moment testing on GCAPS globally exclusive Flat Trac LTRe. You will interface with customers from around the world ranging from motorsports and major automotive manufacturers to tire and sensor developers. As a Senior Tire Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of our data through comprehensive testing and analysis.

Duties

  • Develop and execute test plans, protocols, and procedures for tire performance evaluation, durability, and safety testing.
  • Conduct a wide range of tire tests including high-speed performance, wet and dry handling, traction, braking, and noise analysis.
  • Test Execution/Control Room Support is ~75% of expected hours.
  • Utilize various testing equipment and tools to collect accurate data, perform measurements, and analyze test results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, researchers, and technicians, to identify testing requirements and optimize tire performance.
  • Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies related to tire testing and ensure compliance with relevant development.
  • Analyze test data and prepare comprehensive reports, highlighting key findings, recommendations, and potential improvements.
  • Conduct and monitor equipment tuning and calibration.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintenance of test equipment.

Required Qualifications      

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other quantitative discipline
  • 2 years’ experience in a testing/laboratory setting
  • Background in signal processing and calibration for at least one year
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Microsoft Office (VBA a plus)
  • Full-time on-site attendance required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in a testing/laboratory setting
  • Prior development experience with MATLAB and Simulink or other computational tools
  • Problem solving related to mechanical systems
  • Problem solving related to controls systems
  • Management of engineering projects
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team skills
  • Strong engineering integration skills
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles and fabrication techniques
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics
  • Experience in industrial or heavy equipment environments
